Meet a Tree
Lesson Plan
Procedure (After you have looked through the tree information
booklet.)
1. Locate the following words in your glossary. (Check the words off after
you have read the definition.)

2. As a group, take turns to read the information booklet out loud.
As you are reading, fill in the worksheet. (The questions are in order
as the
information appears in the booklet. The coloring will occur on
the last
sheet of the booklet and should be done last.)
Extensions
- Students could perform an experiment with celery placed
in colored
water (use food coloring) to see what happens over time. They could
then relate what they observe to what they have learned about trees
transporting food to their leaves.
Closure
- Look at a tree cookie and try to identify the layers.
- How old is this tree?
